18.17 Header Navigation Enhancements

Limit navigation display by user permission

The display of menu or link items in the DMH header can now be based on the viewer's Account or permissions. This allows the header navigation to be more tailored/useful for individual users.

The navigation link and menu content models in the CMS now support two new fields, Account id restriction and Permission name restriction. If either of these fields has a value, the associated element will only display if the user has matching values.

Some use cases...

  • Display a 'Full Matches' link to only users that have access to that particular type of content
  • Display a link to the Admin interface for users with admin permissions
  • Display a link to external sites for permissioned users

Style navigation with icons and positioning

The navigation link and menu content models in the CMS now support two new fields, Icon display name and Header navigation alignment

The Icon display name field can be used to specify any icon from the Material library (https://material.io/tools/icons/?style=baseline). When defined, the icon will appear to the left of the link/menu label.

The Header navigation alignment value can be set to Right or Left. If set to Right, the link or menu will display on the right side of the header, just to the left of the user menu.
